October 13’s Sand Lake Historical Society program visits with Times Union crime podcast reporters Jessica Marshall and Patrick Tine as they walk us through their research into the 1908 murder of Hazel Drew. A nine-episode podcast from 2025, The Girl in the Pond, unravels the life and death of a Sand Lake resident. Did she have a secret life? Was she spurned by a lover? Who do they think did it? Come and find out.

New this year, we will feature “Treasures from our Historical Collection”. At each meeting, we will feature some historically significant items or documents from our collection. We have many fascinating and interesting things that need to be seen. Also, we are planning on adding some field trips to historically significant locations, so watch for emails as some programs may not be on Tuesday nights.
Meetings are generally held the second Tuesday of each month, beginning at 7:00 p.m., typically in the Courtroom of the Sand Lake Town Hall, 8428 NY 66, Sand Lake, New York 12153, unless otherwise noted.
